how to find the best ghostwriter
before you can find the "best ghostwriter" for your job, you need to have a clear idea of exactly what you want the ghostwriter to do for you
what language? ghostwriter should be a native speaker - if it will be translated to other languages I highly recommend you have the translations done by professional translators who are native speakers of those language - Google translator is one thing - "localization" of your content is another - you will be much happier with your return on investment
what target audience? ghostwriter should either be a highly experienced professional who knows how to adapt their style to the target audience, or ghostwriter needs to be a member of (or have experience with or writing for) the target audience. For example, if your article deals with moms who want to work at home it doesn't make a lot of sense to have it written by a career man or woman who has never been married and doesn't have children. Cooking writers and recipe developers should have experience cooking, don't you think? People who don't know what Internet marketing and affiliate marketing are shouldn't be trying to explain how they work to other people, and arrticles on Bible study techniques probably shouldn't be written by someone who has never even read the Bible!
is research provided or does ghostwriter need to do it?
is there an outline or table of contents or does the ghostwriter need to create these first, for your approval, before beginning to write?
how many words (pages)?
intended publication setting - print or electronic? where will it be sold? (or given away) - having a good idea of exactly where you plan to "market" your article, book or other content will make a huge difference on how it is researched, written, prepared and "packaged" - if you are able to communicate these particulars to your ghostwriter you will get a much better final product - a non-fiction ebook that will be sold on Clickbank could have a completely different style from one that will be sold on Amazon, just as a printed Bible study book that will be sold in local bookstores might have a very different writing approach than one that will be sold on your own website or on auction sites. These are just a few examples, even if they might sound a bit absurd - but if you are working with a professional ghostwriter you will be amazed at how much more helpful advice and great writing you'll get when you share the details of the overall project goals with your ghostwriter!
what is your budget? don't be afraid to be honest - not everyone is independently wealthy - set a reasonable amount that you know you are able to pay, and see what happens in negotiations. This has happened to me often: I quote a per word price, but when I discover that the client has a whole series of articles or books in mind, or additional work for me on another site or blog, etc., even if the work will be spread out over time, I realize that by lowering my price a bit I have the chance to develop a relationship with someone who might become my biggest client ever...you get my drift - Please be careful, though - don't mislead people into thinking that you might offer them lots of work in the future if its simply not true - it's probably NOT in the best interests of your future success to have someone who spends all of their free time online and who types 120 words per minute posting blogs and forum comments all over cyberspace not to do business with you because you make promises that you can't (or won't) keep!
how and when will you pay? elance or private? craigs list or forum? how did you get in touch with the ghostwriter? does he/she have references that you can verify? do you know any of these people?
blog ghostwriter: why ghostwritten blogs earn more
when you're writing about what you love you may tend to lose focus, writing may get shuffled to a low priority because of work, family etc. - when you pay someone to ghostwrite for you, they have a budget and a deadline to meet, so you can bet the professional ghostwriter will maintain focus and stay on target - you can still add the articles you want to write about with passion, tweak any of the articles the ghostwriter has written for you towards your own personal style and slant (but a talented ghostwriter can quickly learn to write in your own style, if you like) - you add your own original content whenever you like. It's still YOUR blog - your name is on every article - but you get the articles prepared and lined up for publishing in a timely manner, so you no longer have those poor, abandoned blogs that are hungry for new content - if you like, a popular extra service is to give the ghostwriter access (or partial access) to your blog's admin panel (by making them a contributing blogger) so they can schedule articles that will be published - or if you prefer you can set that up yourself, once the ghostwriter has delivered the articles to you.
business ghostwriter
many business owners find it difficult to write about their own company - and many who think that they are good at communicating really aren't - often it can be much better to have an outsider (and professional writer) take a look at your company's web content, including your main site, blog, social networking pages, professional networking pages, etc. and give feedback about how your "message" could be improved
christian ghostwriter
your ghostwriter is a believer, with decades of experience teaching: Sunday school (toddler through adult), children's church, youth and adult fellowship groups, Bible studies, prayer groups, missionary support groups, etc. Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Bible, spirit filled, annointed ministry of teaching, healing and helps - experience as a Christian counselor (non-certified), former pastor's wife, published Christian writer, traveled extensively (including missions outreaches in the US and abroad), been living abroad for over 9 years - very aware of intercultural issues, gifted and passionate speaker - Normally I work via Internet, using web 2.0 tools and technologies to create virtual ... but am also willing to travel to promote your book in speaking engagements, book signings, etc. (as co-author or promoter) either along with you, or alone in the case that you aren't able or willing to do so (willing to ghostwrite or to be listed as co-author, whichever you prefer) - In most cases I prefer to work on a flat fee (per word) basis (plus travel expenses, etc. as required), but I am willing to discuss working for a percentage of the royalties.
