Songs of Summer: 'Passion Ghost' by Author with Guitar Now Playing

In my novel The Memory Songbook I tell the story of a young musician who discovers that favorite songs can take people back -- way back -- if the listener's heart is engaged.

The central character Frank Gosnell became a time traveler, or so he thoughts, as he searched for a way to save the life of a family member who was lost in modern day life.

Now I have taken that concept further. I've imagined Frank at a very different stage of life. As a mature singer-songwriter, he has created a persona--Author with Guitar -- as a way of writing freely (and somewhat anonymously) about the joys and setbacks that have shaped his love life. 

Passion Ghost is Frank's Indie song cycle that includes portrayals of fictitious men who resemble but are not entirely him. The alternative folk and pop song structures allow him to go back in time to relive the key stages of love.

Frank, as expressed through Author with Guitar, creates melodic character studies that expose the singer as "in" relationship, or "out" or "waiting" for whatever might be next.
